Rembrandt portrait on his reflection of mortality

At the age of 63 which in those days was a great age to reach Rembrandt painted a self portrait that was profoundly moving and emotional. The context shows him looking ordinary and relaxed yet the haunting look he achieved in the way he captures the eyes demands great respect.

What I like is the is the compenplaiting almost wistful look on his face. I admire the artist to be able to capture true emotion in their artworks.

It is of no wonder that the work is considered to be one of the most profoundly moving pieces of artworks.
