Self portrait

I used a mirror and drew a simple outline of my face with pencil. I then used a lamp to create shade and contours, I then shaded the contours to create a patten.

What I learnt is that I preferred angled contours compared to rounded. I then wondered how it would look if the whole portrait was angled.

The trouble with strong angles is that it creates a scary visual. Almost like the day of the dead images.

I will experiment with colour to see if this softens the look.

I used pastels but regretted it as it was too messy and didn’t allow me to achieve the sharp precise lines I was looking for but it still allowed me to imagine the portrait in colour and the result defiantly softened the image.
