Ruth Miller

Ruth Miller is a fibre artist who uses embroidery to skilfully recreate a portrait.

She experiments with both filling the foreground and background space and alternately leaves some of the background blank for the viewer to use their imagination.

I am particular impressed with how this artist is able to create depth, shade and creases in the fabric making the portrait look 3D and there is a definite distinction between background and the foreground. Very clever all this done with thread.
